Charlie Superstore Sales Analysis On Microsoft Excel

Using Microsoft Excel, the sales data of Charlie Superstore covering the period between 2014 and 2017 was analyzed.

We looked through the raw dataset and did the necessary cleaning to access the data we needed to work with to generate the sales and profit analysis. We rounded up sales to 2 decimal places and changed the type to currency. The same process was employed for the profit, while the date was changed to date format, and we created a hierarchy to show how the products were doing in each region.

We analyzed sales and profit for the store within the period under review. The total number of products in the store was 38,000 while a profit of $286,400.

The West Region recorded the highest profit of $108,000 while the consumer segment was most profitable with 46.83%. Technology was the most profitable category taking up 59.79% and standard class mode of shipping was the most profitable earning $164,000.

However, Oregon was the least profitable state bringing in $1,000 while the most profitable state was California with a total of $76,000. The most profitable sub-category was copiers which brought in $56,000 while the least profitable sub-category was appliances with $18,000. At $41.10, the month of March had the highest average profit and was 136.84% higher than April which had the lowest average profit at $17.35.
